Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures by Catherine A. Pepe revolve around Mary Grace and her little brother Donny, who has Down Syndrome. Donny's family made sure to shower him with lots of love and care. They also try to shield him from negativity to ensure his positive outlook on life is preserved. One day, their parents tell them that they were assigned a mission to Africa for two years, and the children will have to go and live with their grandparents in California. What adventures await the children in California? Read this book to find out.

I love how the author explained things in a way children can understand. Also, the adults exercised patience when dealing with the children, and this is an example of how to correct a child. How Mary Grace handled the incident with Justin Green shows that harsh punishments are not always the answer, even when a child does a naughty thing. I also love how the author explained that bullying could come in different forms and how she went ahead to show how dangerous bullying can be, regardless of the age of the bully. She also emphasized how children with special needs shouldn't be treated as dense because they are not. They need a little more help than others.

I wouldn't say I liked how the pictures in the book were few and far between.

I rate this book 5 out 5 stars because the book was well written, and the writing style was simple and easy to understand. I found no errors, which shows that this book was amazingly edited. The book is a tale of understanding, love, and acceptance. It teaches children that a bit of kindness can make a lot of difference in the lives of others.

I recommend it to children between the ages of six and twelve. I believe children can learn how to treat others by reading this book.

Children's books about children with disability are few. I believe we need more of them to educate children about these disabilities and to help them better understand them.

I'm currently reading this book and I am enjoying how Donny's family loves him and how the author teaches us how to embrace children with special needs without neglecting others. Great review!
