Review of Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula
Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R. F. Kristi is the eighth book in the series. The team has to embark on another mission. This time, their adventures take them to South Korea, where they help a friend.
Missy gets invited to be a judge at a prestigious baking contest. The competition is held in South Korea, and the team is happy to follow her there. In South Korea, their tour guide is Ye-Jun. He is always sad and distant. The team realizes the reason for this: he misses his sister. They promise to help him find her.
The book is a masterpiece. The author describes the relationship between North Korea and South Korea wonderfully. It teaches readers the history between the two countries that were previously united. She explains it in a way that even children will be able to understand.
I found nothing wrong with the book. There were no grammatical errors, which shows it was well-edited. I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I found the use of animals important because it resonates better with children. The graphics and illustrations are key to helping children understand the book better. The characters were easy to keep up with. They played their roles well. I found no character to be unnecessary. My favorite character was Ye-Jun. His love for his sister is something I admire about him.
War is a terrible thing, and it should be avoided at all costs. It only claims lives and properties. There is no real winner in the end. We are only left with survivors who are broken due to the events of the war. I like that the author tries to educate children about the dangers of war. I recommend this book to children who love action, drama, and suspense. I also feel adults can benefit from the history lessons in the book.
