McDowell by William H. Coles is a book that tells the inspiring story of Hiram McDowell, a renowned surgeon with fascinating accomplishments who has to go through trials and problems due to his mistakes. Hiram is well acclaimed for his dedication to his profession and for his philanthropic nature, as he opened a medical foundation to care for people in Nepal. With the backing of his sparkling career, he is voted head of a well-known body of surgeons and is also nominated as the Secretary of Healthcare for the government. However, things turn south for Hiram when a fellow surgeon whom he promised and failed begins to seek his downfall by finding discrepancies in his former medical research. In addition to this, a media body that hopes to usher him into the public eye also noticed some faults in his foundation's finances, and things started to fall apart for him. When a major event that threatens everything in Hiram's life happens, he seeks to rebuild his life by taking drastic actions that result in very bad situations for himself and his family. How will Hiram end up? Will he be able to find answers in the most unexpected places and successfully accomplish something he dearly wanted to? Check out this mind-blowing, suspense-filled novel to find out.

Sincerely speaking, this book is packed with more emotions than I’ve ever encountered in any book. Love, hate, anger, sadness, happiness, freedom, fear—you name it. All these emotions were projected onto me as I fell into place as one of the characters in this novel. I felt like a bystander watching a man’s life get built, broken down, and rebuilt again. The characters in this book all had unique attributes that made me appreciate the fact that I made up my mind to read it.

The book detailed the life of Hiram and all those around him in an engaging way, and his story resonated within a deep fiber of my being. The lessons I learned from this book greatly exceeded the entertainment it provided, and I sincerely appreciate the author for giving me the opportunity to benefit from the knowledge in this book. The language style was captivating, and I held on to everything the author was trying to project into the reader's mind. Hiram may not be a good person in the eyes of some people, but from my perspective, the steps he took to rebuild himself were worth it, as they gave me a much-appreciated, unique view of life.

I didn’t come across any aspect that I can refer to as borderline negative in this book, apart from the fact that it got tiresome to read at some point with too many details about Hiram’s suffering. Hiram seemed to blame everything on others, as he didn’t think he had a hand in his misfortune, and he made sure to state this often. However, I gained invaluable knowledge from reading about the life of Hiram McDowell, and although I spotted a few errors in the book, it was well worth my time.

This book was professionally edited, as I found only a few errors in it. It was an amazing read, and I believe the appropriate rating for it is 5 out of 5 stars, as the story is one that I resonate with, and one that I highly recommend.

In conclusion, I appropriately recommend this book to lovers of crime, mystery, and other fiction. This book holds some romantic moments, so romance lovers can also benefit from the story. Specifically speaking, if you’re looking for a story that details the ups and downs of life, and you have urgent questions that need immediate answers, this book could be your much-needed guide.

The narrative of "McDowell" is both compelling and thought-provoking. Coles delves into the complexities of his protagonist's personality while also highlighting his potential for change. This book is a powerful exploration of redemption and the human spirit.
