Although healthcare is a caring and passion-filled job, it is also a business. In this book, the author takes readers through her career journey with her. The musician-turned-physician narrates how she followed in her father's footsteps in the medical field.

The author is a physician assistant who transitioned to medicine in her early thirties after a successful teaching career as a musician. She specializes in cradle-to-grave family practice and has practiced for 20 years. She wrote this self-help book to empower people with quality information to help them make better healthcare decisions. She goes back in time to share her experiences as the daughter of a physician. She also narrates her experiences in different cases with different patients and even other specialists. Her scope extends broadly to many aspects of healthcare. Examples are the choice of primary care providers, the analysis of hospital admissions, elder abuse, emergency plans, the influence of the media, and the financial and legal side of healthcare. Unfortunately, the author got struck with reality by the time she was rounding off the last chapter of this book. Read this informative book by Barbara Galutia Regis, M.S., PA-C, to discover this and many more expositions.

Surviving the "Business" of Healthcare: Knowledge is Power! stressed the need for healthcare insurance and insurance plans. It also contains a business study of healthcare. I like that the author gave instances and scenarios where necessary. As a reader, I enjoyed taking a glimpse into their not-so-sleepy town. My favorite part of the book was the eighth chapter, where the author outlined and described opportunities in administrative and support roles in the healthcare field.

I enjoyed reading this book. I admired Tony's thoughtfulness and support. It was also thoughtful of her to have attached photographs with brief descriptions at the end of the book. They were beautiful to see. The book was also professionally well-edited, as I found one minor error. However, it was tiring to read at some points. The commerce, government, and law parts were too intense, and I struggled to continue reading. For this reason, I rate this book four out of five stars.

I recommend this book to lovers of health matters, health practitioners, and anyone who wishes to establish (or has established) a business in the health sector.

I know from experience how healthcare runs like a business. If you don’t have the money, you don’t get the care. I know that most of the time this is ruled by insurance companies and not doctors. It still doesn’t feel good to have to fight for the correct care.

Healthcare is one of the things we neglect the most, this is worst with the Africans. I believe getting a copy of this book for everyone around us will go a long way in reducing the population of people that visit the hospital.

I think this book may be boring for some people at some point. On the other hand, it'd be enjoyable for health practitioners and medics. The issue of making money from healthcare is another big aspect and I like that it was outlined in the book. Nice review.
