Review of Natural Relief for Anxiety and Stress
Natural Relief for Anxiety and Stress: A Practical Guide is a self-help book written jointly by Gustavo Kinrys and Alexandra Gold. The book features mainly four aspects of the issue. The reader is introduced to the terms anxiety, stress, and fear, their symptoms, and the pills often used for relief. Next come the therapies—nutrient-based supplements, herbal remedies, and natural remedies such as breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, diet monitoring, hydration, and stress management strategies. The third aspect includes yoga and various types of meditation. And lastly, alternative therapies such as acupuncture, music therapy, noise therapy, aromatherapy, etc., and technology-based therapies like virtual reality therapy, magnetic stimulation, biofeedback, and app based therapy are discussed.
The book very effectively addresses the issue of ignorance about anxiety and stress. The behavioural changes and physical sufferings are often not recognised as related to anxiety and stress, and medicines are used to no avail, often becoming addictive in nature. There are separate lists of the symptoms of anxiety, stress, fear, and irrational thoughts and beliefs to help identify the issue. All nutrient-based supplements and herbs are discussed individually with their properties, availability, food sources, uses, safe doses, and side effects. The importance of regular physical activities is emphasized, and useful tips for de-stressing emotions are provided.
What I liked most is the exhaustive list of symptoms, because unless the issues are identified, they cannot be addressed. The suggested herbs are described in detail, and the fact that their uses are supported by scientific research is very thoughtful to have been mentioned. Similarly, the suggestions to select food wisely and for diet monitoring are very useful.
The authors have very wisely provided a summary of the therapies in the form of tables for easy reference. There is also a grocery shopping list for healthy and nutrient-rich options, which is very useful.
There is nothing to dislike about this book; rather, it is very informative, helpful, and authentic.
Written in simple, easy-to-understand language and free from technical terms, it is a well-edited, excellent self-help book. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
It is one of the best self-help books on mental health and wellbeing, and I would recommend it to everyone struggling with issues in their personal or professional life.
