Hold Your Breath by Rana Bitar is a poetry book comprising sixteen different poems. Each poem is accompanied by the date when Rana wrote it, giving us a glimpse into the timeline of her creative journey. Within the book, Rana covers a wide range of topics, including the challenges of the Corona era, the essence of life itself, the impact of serious illnesses like cancer, the inevitability of death, and the eternal quest for the meaning of our existence. Despite the depth of these subjects, the poems remain concise and reader-friendly, allowing individuals of all backgrounds to easily engage with and appreciate their profound messages.

I thoroughly enjoyed the poems. The majority of what the author said resonated with me. An illustration of this is when she discusses how her brother's life was tragically cut short in a train accident. Her emotions and longing for her deceased sibling were palpable to me. It was also relatable how her life was during the pandemic and the uncertainty of what happens after death. The poems, which are about life in general, are truly amazing.

I did not encounter any negative aspects of this book. I enjoyed all the poems and the way the author wrote them. The language used was also simple and easy to understand, which made it even more enjoyable for me.

I rate this book five out of five stars. The book was exceptionally well edited, and I found no grammatical errors. The poems were also brief, enjoyable to read, and relatable.

I highly recommend this book to all poetry enthusiasts who appreciate thought-provoking works. I am certain that these poems will greatly appeal to them, as they are not only enjoyable but also provide an opportunity to delve into the mind of the poet. Through the verses, we gain valuable insights into the author's perspective and are prompted to reflect upon the intended messages of each poem. I found great pleasure in reading this book, as it allowed me to engage in deep contemplation and thorough analysis of the profound themes embedded within every poem.
