[Following is a volunteer review of "In Plain Sight" by Susan Mallett.]
In Plain Sight 2022: A Narrative of an Extraordinary Year by Susan V. Mallett is a visionary book that explores the challenges and opportunities that our world may encounter in the near future. It depicts how the world may look in 2022, when challenges such as climate change, economic inequality, and social unrest have heightened. While reading the book, I found myself reflecting on my own role in shaping the future and how small actions can create a significant impact.
The author offers a compelling narrative that highlights the importance of hope in the face of adversity. The story portrays a world that's strikingly realistic yet hopeful, given humanity's ability to adapt and change. The key themes in the book, such as sustainability, climate change, and social justice, resonated deeply with me, and it was humbling to see how our actions today can create a ripple effect of change for the future.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the book is the Mallett's ability to delve into the psychological and emotional effects of living in a world in crisis. She delves into the emotional uncertainty and constant anxiety of the pandemic, the grief, and the loss of loved ones. She also includes a broad range of individuals’ viewpoints, from health care professionals, to humanitarian relief workers, to mental health experts, to government officials, and ordinary citizens dealing with the pandemic.
I rate the book five out of five stars. In Plain Sight
2022 has increased and improved my understanding of the world's difficulties and potential. The book prompted me to
consider my principles and my role in ensuring a better
future for all.It has also piqued my interest in the current
social and environmental concerns confronting our globe, about which I hope to keep informed and actively engage in finding solutions. Finally it is evident that this book was professionally proofread.
I highly recommend In Plain Sight 2022 to anyone who seeks a fresh perspective on our present and future. The book is a sobering yet hopeful wake-up call, reminding us of our collective responsibility to create a better world for everyone, not just for ourselves. It is a commendable tribute to human ingenuity and resilience, and it invites us all to be part of the change we want to see.
