This was such a fun little coloring book!

It was a pleasant surprise to see that there was an inspirational quote to accompany each illustration. It was a clever use of the left side of the page so that there weren’t any coloring pages back to back or completely blank pages.

This book is perfect for colored pencils or crayon coloring. With any type of marker, you run the risk of it bleeding through the pages, but, because the back of the book specifically mentions using colored pencils, I cannot fault it too much for this. The pages could have been a bit thicker to ensure you cannot see through the pages. I appreciated that there was not a glossy quality to the pages chosen because that would have made it difficult to draw with pencils. The texture of the paper was ideal for colored pencils.

I love the different line weights used in the pictures. The style of every page is very unique. The sketchiness of the images is unique for a coloring book. This aspect causes some of the details to seem a little muddy, but I think overall it adds some nice detail to show up beneath colored pencil.

I give this book a 5/5 as a coloring book for colored pencils! The specific idea of gnome homes in jars is such a cute, quirky idea. There are a couple of places I could nitpick the sentence structure, but this was only present in quotes. There were no true spelling or grammatical errors. I wasn’t sure how I felt at first about the non-traditional, inconsistent line weights, but I love the dimension it brings to the illustrations once I add color to them. It makes it feel more like you’ve contributed to a piece of artwork once it is finished rather than just filling in color spaces between bolded lines.
