In Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R. F. Kristi, we are introduced to Inca, a Siberian detective cat who leads the renowned Inca & Company. This detective agency is not only comprised of Inca but also includes his siblings, Fromage and Cara. Together, they have built a reputation for their impressive victories, such as recovering stolen goods from a local museum during their time in Sri Lanka. When their mother, Missy, is invited to serve as a judge in a French patisserie competition in the Korean Peninsula, it sparks excitement within the feline detectives. It is not only a chance for Missy to display her new cheese creation, but also an opportunity for Inca & Company to explore a new land and encounter fresh challenges as they forge new friendships along the way.

The author's mastery in crafting the plot development of this story is truly commendable. They have skillfully constructed a narrative that unfolds with suspense, excitement, and intrigue, captivating not only young readers but also adults. The progression of events is skillfully organized in a chronological and well-titled manner, enhancing the overall reading experience. Moreover, the characters are remarkably endearing and relatable, as the author cleverly draws connections between their traits and the real-world animals they represent. For instance, Terrence embodies bravery, care, and protectiveness, mirroring the noble qualities often associated with dogs. Every aspect of this book has left me thoroughly impressed. Kristi has brought an extraordinary level of personality to the furry animals within its pages, allowing them to come alive in the reader's imagination. The book's premise itself is captivating; it is set predominantly in the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), providing a fascinating backdrop for the unfolding events. Older children would undoubtedly find this book both entertaining and educational, as it offers valuable insights into this unique geopolitical context.
