[Following is a volunteer review of "Farmer Beau's Farm" by Kathleen Geiger.]
Six little kittens appear on a farm, but only one little kitten stays. Farmer Beau and his wife, Bamma, are thrilled! They name her Kailey, and she is sweet and playful. They make Kailey a home in the barn, and she loves it! While napping one afternoon, Kailey senses that something is watching her. This feeling leads her to investigate and meet a new friend, a rabbit named Sammy. Despite their differences, the two become instant friends. They enjoy exploring and playing together. One day, an animal named Malissa arrives for the farmer and his wife. Kailey and Sammy are curious because they overheard Farmer Beau describe it the day before as something unusual. What animal could it be? Is it a chance for them to make a new friend? You’ll have to read it to find out!
Farmer Beau’s Farm by Kathleen Geiger tells a story about friendship and inclusion, two things all children need to learn more about. The book is original and creative, and I enjoyed it even as an adult. I like how Geiger allowed her granddaughters to choose the animals and the color they would be. It makes the animals chosen even more special. I also like how easy it was to read and how the farmer and his wife displayed compassion and care for all creatures. They are great examples of how we should treat other humans and animals. I do not dislike anything about this book. Everything I read I thoroughly enjoyed.
I rate Farmer Beau’s Farm 5 out of 5 stars. I loved it! The illustrations and formatting are excellent, as is the editing. It appears professionally edited, and I did not find one error. There is nothing I would change about it, plus I enjoyed it so much that I see no reason to detract a star. I recommend it to children ages six and up or parents who want to read a charming story with a lesson involving inclusion with their younger children. You will enjoy reading about the fantastic and fun animals in this book!
