Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
Wars don't always result in good; regardless of how long they last, most of the time they have tremendous negative effects on the general populace. Numerous people are left homeless, while others are injured, killed, or just left to suffer. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, by Matthew Tysz, the first book in the Voulhire series, is an outstanding fantasy book that introduces Galen Bray, a young orphan who has become a refugee due to the unending conflict that has been raging in The Land of Princes, where he was born, for about 20 years.
The sons of the Emperor of Lullabies rule the three nations that make up the Land of Princes. In a bid to prevent war and promote peace, the emperor divided his empire among his sons, but that ended up not being the case as their greed and jealousy kept them at war with each other. Galen was aware that he had to leave the land of the princes in pursuit of greener pastures. He was fortunate to receive an inheritance from his late uncle Onita, in Voulhire. Galen is grateful for the chance to start over, but he's determined to prove he's worthy of inheriting his uncle's fortune. On arrival at Wanthire, Galen soon learns that some hidden plans are being undertaken to thwart the king's attempts to maintain unity in his kingdom. What does Galen do about all these? Is he prepared for the things he’ll be faced with at Voulhire? The only way to find out is to read this book.
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is an exceptional book filled with action, magic, drama, and politics. There are so many things I enjoyed about this book. Firstly, I love how suspenseful and unpredictable the events in this book turned out to be, this made the entire book so intriguing, and the question of what will happen next made me remain so glued to this book. Also, the authors detailed descriptions of the various settings mentioned in this book, especially Voulhire, along with its map, created a strong, realistic feeling. The descriptive writing style enabled me to visualize every aspect of this book. The characters in this book, each with their unique personalities, were another reason I enjoyed reading it. My favorite characters were Galen and Lord Eldus, I felt I already knew them by reading this book.
There was nothing I disliked about this book, and I won't fail to add that this book was exceptionally well edited, as I found no errors while reading. On that note, I would like to rate this book 5 out of 5 stars, and I look forward to reading the sequel. I recommend this epic novel to readers who love to read about magic and fantasy.
