Mary Grace and Donny live in Wichita with their parents, and they love pretending to be penguins with their mom and dad at home. They also enjoy going to the zoo as a family. However, their fun takes a pause when their dad, Mr. Miller, is informed that he will be going on a missionary journey to Africa. After thinking it over, Mr. and Mrs. Miller decide to send their children to stay with their grandparents in California. Mary Grace and Donny find it hard to believe that they will be away from their parents for two whole years. But after some convincing, they decide to focus on the positive side of this big change. Mrs. Miller tells them about the famous Grandma Gang, a group of seniors who do amazing things, and Mary Grace is excited to meet them. To know the full story of Mary Grace and Donny's adventures in California, you'll have to read this book.

Donny and Mary Grace’s California Adventures by Catherine Anna Pepe is a novel that I particularly enjoyed. The part where Mary Grace joined the Grandma Gang in their investigation was fascinating. It was lovely to see her fit in with them. The author focused on Donny as the central character in this book. It explores themes of love, family bonds, and togetherness. The book even includes children's rhymes at certain points.

There is nothing I disliked about this book. The author did a great job of educating readers about children with disabilities or special issues. Donny displayed extraordinary qualities, which the author used to demonstrate the unique behaviors of kids with disabilities. I found no errors in this book, and this shows that it is exceptionally edited.

This book is really great, and I think it's perfect for kids and teenagers, so I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. It's a book that helps kids understand and accept people with disabilities. When children read this book, they'll find it so enjoyable that it might become their favorite. They'll want to be as smart as the character Mary Grace and strive to be as happy and positive as Donny.

I recommend this book to teachers because they can use it to teach their students or even read to them during class. I also recommend it to children, as it is both entertaining and educational.
