Since his childhood, Galen Bray has endured oppression, servitude, and starvation in the lands of the princes, caught amid the power struggle between the emperor's sons. When Galen receives a letter urging him to travel to Voulhire and take over his late uncle's blacksmithing business, he seizes the chance to escape the harsh lands of the princes. Little does he know, however, that Voulhire has its share of unsettled circumstances. The return of the Caromentis mages, particularly Meldorath Dalehei, threatens King Wilhelm's rule over the city, and the silence of the Riva Rohavi hints at an even greater disaster to come. Galen Bray must now learn to navigate this coveted city amidst both benevolent and malevolent external forces.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz chronicles Galen Bray's quest for a fortune in an unfamiliar land far from his usual environment.

There are numerous aspects of this book that I find appealing. Firstly, I am amazed at how the author portrays the imaginary setting of the story within the pages. The setting vividly captures a world of dark magic, and the intriguing characteristics of certain characters in the book left me grinning. For instance, I couldn't help but smile while reading the scene featuring the dancing Riva Rohavi as they approach their adversaries with graceful movements. The mental imagery evoked by this depiction is truly humorous. I was also entertained by the inclusion of magical elements throughout the book. The author's descriptions of the setting were so well-crafted that I began to question if the geographical environment depicted could possibly be real. The book's authenticity is further reinforced by the inclusion of a glossary, providing explanations of the terms used to describe Voulhire's culture, geography, and government. The tone employed in the book is captivating, allowing me to establish a connection with and enjoy the roles played by each character, particularly the enchanting presence of Siden in the Cosmos of Voulhire. I also appreciate the detailed descriptions of the mage Meldorath and Beth.

There was nothing in the book that I disliked. It has been meticulously edited, as I did not encounter any typos or grammar errors. Therefore, I wholeheartedly rate this book five out of five stars. I highly recommend it to fans of dark fantasy and action-packed scenes.

The dancing Riva Rohavi also got me giggling as I imagined how that setting would look.

The book cover looks interesting. I hope that Galen navigates his life well in Voulhire. When I sampled a few pages of the book, it appears that the book is not for me, so I'll skip it. Nonetheless, congratulations to the author on BOTD!

This was a nice review and well done to the reviewer for actually giving the readers a small teaser of what to expect if they intend to divulge into the world of voulhire filled with magic, survival and apparently dancing soldiers.

Good review. Galen thought he was fleeing his worst nightmares back home, not knowing he was headed to an arguably worse place filled with envy, rivalry, and avarice.

I read many versions of this book, as the author has been improving it over the years. I must say that each new version is better. Matthew Tysz has an incredible imagination, and he is able to take his reader to the unique places he has created.

I am eager to see what awaits Galen Bray in the next legs of his Voulhirian journey.

One of the most appealing aspects of the book was the author’s ability to vividly describe the environment and setting, allowing me to immerse myself in the world being depicted. Furthermore, the inclusion of an actual map for reference added an extra layer of detail and engagement.Great review 👍
