We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz is an engrossing science fiction/fantasy novel that takes readers on a captivating journey. Set in a world of chaos and war, the story follows Galen Bray as he navigates the treacherous landscape of the Land of the Princes and finds refuge in the Kingdom of Voulhire. In this new realm, Galen inherits his late uncle's forge and embarks on a new life as a blacksmith. However, his plans take an unexpected turn as strange and mysterious events unfold in Voulhire, making his path far more challenging than he anticipated.

What I found particularly appealing about the book is the author's ability to create a rich and immersive world. Tysz's descriptive prowess brings the Kingdom of Voulhire to life, allowing readers to vividly envision the landscapes, characters, and events. The writing style is engaging, with a perfect balance of action, mystery, and emotional depth. The characters themselves are well-developed, each with their own distinct personalities and motivations, making them relatable and compelling. Moreover, I appreciate how the author utilizes the narrative to address important societal issues. The book tackles workplace insults and violence, promoting empathy and understanding. The scene where Galen stands up against the mistreatment of laborers in the mining town is particularly commendable. Additionally, the author boldly condemns the actions of pedophiles through the character of Lord Orlin, shedding light on a serious issue.

While the book offers a fascinating and imaginative story, there are a couple of aspects that could be improved. The interchange of character names, such as referring to Galen as "Herr Bary" and King Wilhelm as "Willie," can be confusing and disrupt the reader's immersion in the story. Furthermore, the book's fragmented structure, with different partitions discussing various aspects of the world and characters, requires readers to connect the dots and piece together the overall narrative, which may pose a challenge for some.

Taking everything into account, I rate "We are Voulhire 5 out of 5 stars because I found no errors. The book is exceptionally well edited, showcasing the author's talent for descriptive storytelling and his ability to address societal issues within a fantastical setting. Also, there was nothing to dislike about the book.

I highly recommend this book to fans of science fiction and fantasy genres, as well as those who appreciate well-crafted narratives with meaningful themes. "We are Voulhire" will undoubtedly captivate readers with its imaginative world and leave them eagerly anticipating future installments in the series.

A really interesting review. Being able to draw readers into a fantasy book is a skill I believe the author must have acquired. Well-done.
