The Date Farm by Jack Winnick is the fourth book in the Lara and Uri series, though it can be read as a standalone book. It starts off with a terrorist attack at a mall in Beverly Hills. Then, a bank robbery occurs, though it was not gold stolen but rather a metal needed for military planes. Lara and Uri, who are now married, must go undercover to try and recover this precious material as it is rare and more can not be mined. Will the pair of agents be able to find the stolen goods? Will their disguises hold up? Grab a copy of The Date Farm to find out!

I thought the main pair of Lara and Uri were well-developed. Their relationship brought a lighter touch to an otherwise heavy book. I think Winnick did a good job of introducing them if you had not read the previous books. Readers can jump right into this book easily.

The action in this book starts right away, as is typical with Winnick's books. The fast pacing of the book continued for the majority of the book. However, there were a few scenes that felt rather slow. For example, there were a few pages that detailed nothing more than Uri attempting to fix a tractor. I feel as though some of those details could have been left out as it slowed the pacing. However, this was my only dislike of the book.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I do not feel my minor dislike is enough to warrant taking off a star. I thought the rest of the elements were excellent. I also did not notice any errors in this book. I believe that it was professionally edited. I thought the themes of fighting to protect yourself, your family, and your country were well-developed throughout the book.

If you enjoy reading political thrillers, I strongly encourage you to check out this book! It does contain some depictions of violence. However, it is an excellent book, and the series does contain five books. There is plenty of material to check out if you can't get enough of Lara and Uri!

Jack Winnick's ability to blend fiction with real-world relevance is evident in "The Date Farm."
