Review of Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula

[Following is a volunteer review of "Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula" by R.F. Kristi.]
Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula is a children's book by R.F. Kristi about an animal detective group headed by a cute Siberian cat called Inca. In the story, Inca and her fellow furry detectives embark on a journey to Korea for a competition in which their human companion is participating. Upon arrival, they discover that their tour guide and host, Ye-Jun, along with his dog, are feeling sad because they haven't seen Ye-Jun's sister and their family cat, Bo-mi, who went to North Korea for an extended period. Determined to make things better, Inca and the animal detectives brainstorm and devise an expert plan to reunite Ye-Jun's family.
As far as children's books go, this is a great one. The words are simple, the story has morals and humor, and it is filled with enough exciting parts to keep a child's attention. I especially love the funny exclamations and onomatopoeia used at intervals to express Inca's emotions; they add spice and excitement to the narrative. Another thing that makes this book an excellent children's story is the fun font and lively graphics within it. My favorite character in this book is Fromage. I find his pride and delusional nature cute, and I love how dramatic he is. Being a big fan of dogs, another character that holds a special place in my heart is Terrance. His energy and sweetness appeal to me, and the thought of reading about him aloud to a child brings a smile to my face.
One other great thing about this book is the way R.F. Kristi incorporates accurate information about the Korean Peninsula into her story without making it complicated. I learned so many new things, and it inspired me to do some further research on Korea. There is nothing I dislike about this book. It is funny, simple, and informative. I noticed just one minor typo while reading, so I believe the book was edited professionally.
I rate this book five out of five stars because of the reasons mentioned above. From what I know, the topic of the relationship between North Korea and South Korea is a delicate one, but Kristi approached it with sensitivity and wrote a beautiful story about it.
This book is most suitable for children between the ages of two and ten, but even older children can read, enjoy, and learn a lot from it. I recommend it as a good bedtime story that parents can read to their children before bed.
