[Following is a volunteer review of "E M P Honeymoon" by Dorothy May Mercer.]
In EMP Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer, readers are plunged into a world where a seemingly idyllic honeymoon takes an unexpected turn. Senator Mike McBride receives a frantic call from his sister, Kelly, on her honeymoon with her husband, Tom, in Honduras. Kelly has unwittingly stumbled upon a secret terrorist plot while exploring a deserted gift shop. Her discovery thrust her into a dangerous game of cat and mouse as she becomes the target of relentless pursuers.
Concerned for Kelly's safety and determined to unravel the truth behind the sinister plot, Senator Mike enlists the help of Cynthia, the head of his security team. Together they dispatch two skilled agents, Sharon and Agatha, to Honduras to assess the situation. Meanwhile, Kelly and Tom embark on their own investigation, oblivious to the fact that an undercover CIA agent named Steve is also hot on the trail of the terrorists.
As the story unfolds, the paths of these characters converge, forming an unlikely alliance against the looming threat. With each step, the team uncovers more clues and unearths the extent of the terrorist organization's plans. The stakes escalate as the race against time to prevent an impending catastrophe that could have dire consequences for North America.
One of the strengths of this book is its well-developed characters. Kelly, a resourceful and determined protagonist, faces a daunting challenge as she fights to protect herself and uncover the mysteries lurking beneath the surface. Tom, a police officer, adds a layer of expertise and courage to the narrative. The dynamics between the characters are realistic and engaging, adding depth to their struggles.
However, one aspect that detracted from my enjoyment of the book was the excessive use of scientific terms, especially in chapter two. The book often delves into complex scientific concepts like quantum entanglement, astrophysical singularities, and genomic sequencing without providing adequate explanation or context for readers who may not have a strong background in these areas. This can make the book inaccessible and difficult to follow for non-experts.
Overall, I rate EMP Honeymoon 5 out of 5 stars. The novel was well-researched and skillfully written. Additionally, I did not encounter any errors during my reading, indicating a high level of professionalism in the editing process. I highly recommend this book to readers seeking an exhilarating and unique adventure that will keep them on the edge of their seats
