Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R.F. Kristi is an engaging children's book that invites young readers to embark on an exhilarating journey alongside a cat named Inca and her companions. The narrative revolves around Missy, a judge participating in a cooking competition in Korea, who must showcase her renowned cheese recipe. Accompanied by her feline friend, Inca, and their team, they set off on an expedition to Korea, where they encountered numerous obstacles and thrilling escapades along the way.

Inca's remarkable courage and intelligence are undoubtedly among the book's most noteworthy attributes. Inca and her companions exhibit agility and enthusiasm as they navigate through a series of obstacles. When Missy's cheese mysteriously disappears upon their arrival in Korea, Inca and her team eagerly take on the task of unraveling the mystery. The unexpected plot twist adds an element of suspense that had me eagerly anticipating what would happen next. I could empathize with Missy's agitation over the missing cheese and felt captivated by the unfolding events.

Alongside the intriguing cheese mystery, Inca and her team stumble upon a situation where two siblings have been separated during their journey to the competition. Inca and her companions take it upon themselves to ensure the siblings are reunited, showcasing a symbolic representation of conflict resolution between South Korea and North Korea. This aspect of the book brings a sense of realism and cultural significance, making the story not only entertaining but also educational. It provides readers, particularly children, with valuable insights into themes of unity and understanding in a relatable and accessible manner.

The book's editing is truly excellent, resulting in a smooth and easily comprehensible reading experience. However, my little dislikes include certain concerns regarding the vocabulary employed in the story. Some words used may present challenges for children in terms of comprehension and understanding. In such cases, having a glossary within the book containing the definitions and explanations of these words would have been beneficial. It would have provided a valuable resource for young readers to refer to and enhance their understanding of the text, ensuring a more seamless reading experience.

Ye-jun's exemplary hospitality towards the traveling crew in his role as a tour guide is truly admirable, leaving me longing to be a part of their captivating journey. The book's characters are skillfully developed, each possessing distinct traits and personalities that add depth to the story. Combined with an engaging plot, the book becomes a captivating read, particularly suitable for children starting at the age of five. Its blend of well-rounded characters and an exciting narrative ensures that young readers will be enthralled and eager to delve into the adventures that unfold.

The book stands out as an exceptional children's book that successfully blends entertainment with education. The well-developed characters, engaging plot, and skillful editing contribute to its excellence, making it a fantastic choice for young readers who enjoy thrilling adventures and mysteries. Despite minor concerns regarding vocabulary, I recommend this book for children aged five and above. Considering its overall quality and entertainment value, I give it a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

When people say that one good turn deserves another, it is evident in this book. It was Ye-jun's act of kindness that resulted in Inca & Company's help toward him.
