Review of The Smartest Person in the Room

[Following is a volunteer review of "The Smartest Person in the Room" by Christian Espinosa.]
When someone reads a book about cybersecurity, you immediately expect it to have something to do with codes, technology, and intelligence as the keys to catching cyber criminals. In his book The Smartest Person in the Room, Christian Espinosa explains that the key to succeeding in cybersecurity and life in general is having specific skills, people skills. Espinosa uses his Air Force cybersecurity training and personal experiences to develop the Secure Methodology and tell readers how people skills are the key to success. I loved everything about this book. Espinosa is well-spoken, intelligent, and disciplined through his Air Force training, personal experiences, and passion for starting his own company, Alpine Security. Many of the people skills he examined in the book connected with me instantly. The crucial skill has to be kaizen, which means constant improvement or growth. Once we master the basics, we have to dig deeper and apply them when necessary through continuous learning. Knowledge is power, and we all have the talent within us to be successful. I was ecstatic to learn how much Espinosa valued monotasking. I'm not particularly eager to multi-task, and performing one task at a time with 100% effort is more valuable than multiple tasks with 50% or less effort. I also appreciated his humility throughout the book in mentioning that his purpose is to educate and provide tips and activities to help us master our people skills rather than talk about his achievements and triumphs. He connected his experiences, but only if they correlated with each skill. He made it clear initially and followed through; that was very admirable.
I could not find anything to dislike about the book. I connected with so many points and personal stories that it was hard to pick a favorite. I only found one typo, meaning this book was professionally edited and well-written. Espinosa was informative without preaching, and I learned many new skills and ideas, making this book very valuable. There was no profanity or sexual content in the book. For the above reasons, it is an honor to award The Smartest Person in the Room 5 out of 5 stars.
I recommend this book to anyone struggling to master their people skills, having troubles at work, or having questions about every aspect of life. Your life will improve once you've read and understood the Secure Methodology in The Smartest Person in the Room. Thank you, Christian Espinosa, for writing such a powerful and valuable book.
