E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer takes readers on a thrilling journey as Kelly and Tom embark on an adventurous honeymoon in Honduras. During their trip, they stumble upon a mysterious laboratory hidden in a gift shop called La Pocilga. Unbeknownst to them, the laboratory is a front for a clandestine operation involving terrorists, and the novel delves into the repercussions of their discovery, shedding light on the dangers of a covert laboratory.

Dorothy May Mercer presents a thought-provoking "what-if" plot that explores the threat of terrorism targeting electricity. Tom, Kelly, Aggie, Sharon, and Steve come together as Team USA to intercept the terrorists' activities. The story unfolds with a well-crafted plot, featuring dynamic characters such as General Lee and Lieutenant Rhee Su-jin, although the latter could have been further developed. Notably, the interview with Dr. Peter Kinney, explaining the science behind solar flares and EMP, adds an enjoyable layer to the narrative.

The book successfully incorporates engaging Korean characters, including Steve Spalding, who plays a vital role in deciphering terrorist phone communications and translating them into English. The plot is engaging and easy to follow, with clear chapter headings. Tom and Kelly selflessly sacrificed their honeymoon to defend the United States against the looming threat. With the absence of significant editing issues or noticeable typos, it is commendable that the book is clearly exceptionally well edited.

While the book maintains a fast-paced and gripping storyline, there are minor gaps in the plot, and some scenes feel unfinished. Despite these shortcomings, the book deserves a 5 out of 5 star rating due to its satisfying and non-disturbing ending, minimal use of profanity, and the recognition it received as the book of the month in December 2019.

Overall, it is suitable for readers of all ages, as it delivers an exciting action thriller that explores the timeless battle between good and evil and keeps readers guessing about who will ultimately prevail.
