[Following is a volunteer review of "Not Dead Yet" by Mark Fletcher.]
Not Dead Yet by Mark Fletcher is a fiction book. This book is about the lives of people in a nursing home and their struggles to adapt to the rules at the nursing home. It comes with stories from different residents in the nursing home which made the readers understand more about their stories. Readers also will learn a lot of lessons from this book.
After reading this book, I found a lot of positive aspects to it. The scene where the people at the nursing home made a beat out of their walking frames and wheelchairs and sang while holding their art made me tear up. The scene was truly beautiful, and the lyrics of the song were so deep and heartfelt. It touched my heart. Besides that, the author, Mark Fletcher, also did a great job writing this book, as I did not find any grammatical errors or typos in the book. I loved how the author included humor in every scene of the book. Furthermore, the book came with great life lessons, which made me very satisfied with it. The book made me understand the perspectives of people in the nursing home. In addition, I loved how respectful Carla was towards Thomas. She did not pressure him and gave him space for Thomas to tell his own stories.
However, there were a few negative aspects that I found in the book. It broke my heart how rude some nurses and staff were at the nursing home. Those people at the nursing home also had feelings and deserved to be loved and respected. Besides that, it was hard for me to comprehend why some family members sent their old parents to the nursing home. It made me cry to read about the struggles and pain the people at the nursing home experienced.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The story was amazing, with a lot of lessons for the readers. There were also no grammatical errors in the book. Besides that, the book was well-edited. It was worth reading it.
Last but not least, I recommend this book to everyone, as everyone deserves to know how special those people are at the nursing home. We need to know that even though they are far from home, the people at the nursing home also deserve care and love. If you are looking for a book that changes your perspective about life, this is definitely for you.
