Review of The Crystilleries of Echoland

[Following is a volunteer review of "The Crystilleries of Echoland" by Dew Pellucid.]
Dew Pellucid introduces their world of sound, echos, mystery, and magic in The Crystilleries of Echoland. Just like humans have a shadow, sounds have an echo. When the King of Echoland dies, a false king gets crowned, and the realm turns into turmoil and chaos. The only hope for Echoland is for the Prince to overthrow the false king when he becomes of legal age. But the new king isn't going to let that happen so easily. He plans to use the Law of Death to his advantage, which states if an echo's sound dies, then the echo must die too.
Will is just a twelve-year-old boy who decides to search for his missing twin sister, Emmy. In his search, he finds more trouble than he could ever imagine. Not only is Emmy trapped in Echoland, a place he has never even heard of before, but Will is a very important sound that must be protected at all costs.
The author described in fantastic detail all the different elements of this book. The story was easy to picture, making all the illustrations an added bonus. The concept of a sound and its echo being separate beings living in different realms while being so connected and mirrored images was creative and clever, in my opinion. I loved the intricate schemes of the Fortune Tellers and Fate Sealers. Pellucid was able to thread together many plots and themes seamlessly and cohesively. I was able to follow all the details and information without getting confused. The author added multiple shock factors and twists that kept my interest throughout the book. The characters are well-developed and relatable. I enjoyed Will and Peter's blossoming friendship. Their interactions added humor for the reader, especially when encountering Valerie or Brainy.
I enthusiastically rate this book a 5 out of 5. I have nothing to criticize about this book. I loved everything about it. I found zero errors making this book exceptionally well-edited.
This book is a fictional fantasy novel. There is no profanity or sexual content. I would suggest this story to young teens and above. It is full of suspense, action, and adventure while expressing the importance of family, friends, teamwork, determination, and equality.
