Financial planning is a critical aspect of life. However, in this current economic climate where people live from hand to mouth, it can be difficult to save for the future. The thought of planning for retirement may be overwhelming for most people. Young adults may feel lost when searching for investment options, while older people may be concerned they have limited time. In Reconfigurement: Reconfiguring Your Life at Any Stage and Planning Ahead, E. Alan Fleischauer explains where to start, what to look out for, and explores the various mechanisms that can be utilized to secure financial stability for all age groups.

Uncontrolled spending, high expenses, economic instability, bad financial decisions, and health issues can hinder financial success. Fleischauer understands the need for tailored financial services and the importance of setting financial goals, reflecting on your progress, and occasionally resetting some aspects of your life to ensure you are financially secure. He provides guidelines, tools, and options readers can use to determine which financial services they need.

The only aspect of the book that I did not like very much is that it caters mainly to the American audience. However, life insurances, retirement plans, provident and pension funds are universal concepts. The only difference is how they are structured, packaged, and sold in different states.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. There were no grammatical or typographical errors in this book. Fleischauer delivers financial lessons with humor and simplicity. He also breaks down the financial jargon using easy-to-understand examples and scenarios. This book is mainly for an American audience. However, readers across the globe can also learn from it, as financial concepts like life and health insurance are universal concepts.

I recommend this book to readers who want to take charge of their financial affairs. They will learn the fundamentals of saving and the various investment vehicles available. I urge young adults to read this book, equip themselves with financial tools, and take advantage of the saving vehicles which are at their disposal. The fruits of compound interest are far too sweet to be missed.
