Severed Roots by Nego Huzcotoq
Beyond today’s objectification and abuse, the riveting story, Severed Roots, takes readers to a future time of feminine decommodification, gender role gentrification, and the minimalizing of masculine supremacy. A brand new era that frowns on the core values of years past. Relationship, family, and the desire for all matters of the heart, parental or personal, readers are immediately drawn into this story’s vividly described society and its populace, and thought-provoking plot!
Remarkably compelling, the complex characters all have their own engaging personalities, palpable motivations, and gripping secrets that give way to very few dull moments! The intricacy of relationships and agendas makes it rather hard to put the book down!
Severed Roots is a well-edited and well thought work but, not entirely without flaw. I did find it a bit slow-paced at times. But, the evident attention to detail and thought showcases Huzcotoq’s shining ability to tell a story! An immersive plot adding a skillful depth to the narrative. and introspective scenes that allow readers to connect to the multi-dimensional characters on a deeper level, the infrequent slow moment and almost nonexistent typos or error take away nothing from the book's overall flow and reading experience.
I give this dystopian tale of role reversal a 4 out of 5-star rating. While it may not be of my usual and preferred genre I still enjoyed this book. An imaginative multiplex of character, atmosphere, and plot, I have no doubt that fans of this captivating genre, or anyone else who enjoys a good, thought provoking read, will more than appreciate this well-told, engaging tale of an oppressive, futuristic society! It’s sure to keep them hooked from beginning to end!
