“Purpose” is about helping people find their purpose and making it matter. The author, Gina Bianchini, is a community platform entrepreneur, and she takes us through the different stages of finding our own purpose(s) by giving us the tools to do so. This is also about harvesting the power of technology as a way to leverage its impact through the building of a community, for which she gives us other tools and advices, as well as real-life examples.

This book is easy to read, it has a clear structure, and it’s really easy to come back to it while implementing the different processes that are showcased.
The author gives valuable lessons, and even though this is generally common sense, it’s also very important to be reminded of these especially in a society where we rarely pause to reflect on what our purposes are, which means that we can lose sight of our North Star easily.
Gina Bianchini reminds us for example that we need to have more than only one purpose (we need purposes for each part of our lives), and that helping others helps us revolutionize our own lives in a big way.
She gives tool to help us find our own purposes and more importantly guides us into using them by sharing her own story. I will definitely apply the Purpose 30 ritual to help define my purposes.

I also liked the fact that she make us rethink social media and as a result makes us accountable to take action to use technology in a better way, to go back to people connections. She is hopeful about how technology can still be an asset as long as we realize social media is currently a “monoculture” and “an addiction we can’t quite let go of”. And I agree with her on the importance of curiosity and experimentation, two values we can see are at the foundation of the different frameworks she designed.

“Purpose” is a very practical and inspiring guide, with a hopeful tone, and whether you are looking to build a community or not, it will definitely challenge you on how to find or redefine your purpose(s) and will empower you to take action. I really recommend reading it and give it a rating of 5 out of 5.
