Butterfly Awakens by Meg Nocero is a depiction of a remarkable transformation during a process of healing. The story is that of a middle-aged woman navigating through her grief after her beloved mother passes away. The reader is taken through this journey where she not only has to go through the psychological and psychosomatic effects of her mother’s passing, but she also has to tolerate her difficult work environment and other external aspects.

I enjoyed the book immensely, especially the care taken by the writer to familiarize the reader with each character. Instead of immediately walking the reader through the healing process, the writer introduces us to the mother. This introduction helps us see her for the person that she is and takes us through everything that she and her family go through since the diagnosis. I thereby felt an emotional connection with the mother and this helped me understand the grieving process better.

This book also felt like a motivational read without seeming preachy or unachievable. Navigating through grief isn’t normalized as an immediate process with no fallbacks. The writer falls back into bouts of grief and depression as moving on from her mother’s death isn’t the only tribulation in her life. The legacy of the mother’s wisdom in helping the writer’s metamorphosis is remarkably portrayed in the book.

During my reading, there was nothing about the book that I didn't enjoy. Every aspect of the story has been handled with incredible care and brought to readers which is highly commendable.

The book is an exceptional read with flawless editing and I would rate it five out of five (5/5) stars. I highly recommend it to readers at any phase in their life as it lifts the spirit in an extremely satisfying manner.
