[Following is a volunteer review of "Niching Up" by Chris Dreyer.]
The book Niching Up by Chris Dreyer is about understanding what business niching is, the pros and cons of niching up, and from there determining if your business needs to serve a niche audience or not. The book explains in detail the factors that entrepreneurs and business owners should take into consideration before deciding to niche up. The book guides entrepreneurs to understand niches and the benefits they would bring to their businesses if they niched appropriately and effectively.
What I liked about the book is how detailed and insightful it is. The author explains in detail what niching is, the advantages and disadvantages of niching up, and the impact that niching up would have on a company. The author is not biased at all, as he does not say that all businesses should niche up, but rather he provides information on niching up from his own experience that business owners and entrepreneurs can use as guidance to understand if they should find a niche audience or not. I also liked how the author uses story-telling, proverbs, and humor to explain a point that he is trying to put across, which I found very interesting. I also liked that the author provided references to other books for more insights.
There is nothing that I do not like about this book. It was quite an interesting and knowledgeable read. The author keeps you engrossed in the book as he does not use any business jargon but rather uses very understandable terms while still making jokes and telling different interesting stories that explain niching. I liked how the author is not arrogant; despite being an expert and having success at niche-up, he still does not attempt to convince all businesses to niche-up. I would recommend this book.
My rating for the book is 4 out of 5 stars. The book is professionally edited, with no grammatical errors and correct punctuation. There was a seamless transition from one chapter to another. I would recommend this book to entrepreneurs and business owners who are considering finding a niche for their businesses.
