[Following is a volunteer review of "YOU CAN TALK TO ANYONE:" by Ellen Dawson.]
This book is the perfect handbook for being a social person. It is suitable for all age ranges and uses easy-going language that delivers the content perfectly, fascinating the readers. I need to point out how organized the structure is. It was not written like a storybook, instead it was like reading a website or cookbook, if you like. Each chapter introduces a new topic, which then is usually divided up into several sub-topics, which gave the book an organized look. Moreover, I love how the author does not rush into discussing the new topics introduced. Instead, she introduces them slowly, giving out definitions followed by examples before proceeding to discuss them. Aside from the structure, I would like to give compliments regarding the perfect balance between scientific references and personal experiences. At the start, the author gives context in the form of her personal experience), which made me interested and gave a depth of relatability to the book. However, this was balanced by multiple scientific references that gave the book a degree of credibility. The book also provided various pictures to visualize some of the concepts, which is exciting as a reader. Despite all these qualities, I felt a bit bored reading some of the chapters as the author, at times, unnecessarily repeats words or definitions, which is why I gave this book a rating of 4 out of 5; still an amazing book to read, recommended.
