Review of Man Mission
In the captivating book Man Mission by Eytan Uliel, the author explores the story of four lifelong friends who embark on a thrilling journey to explore the world. This annual tradition, known as the Man's Mission, intertwines various themes such as enthusiasm, purpose, exploration, adventure, affection, profound love, fear, youthful exuberance, and regret. The friends engage in exciting activities like hiking, kayaking, cycling, bike riding, and sailing, while also emphasizing the importance of family.
Initially, the protagonist introduces himself and his friends, describing how they met and formed a deep bond.
The protagonist's dream of exploring the world and experiencing different cultures and cuisines remained dormant after college as they all focused on work and finding their footing in life. Eventually, they reignite their passion for adventure and establish the Man Mission, complete with rules to ensure its effectiveness. Each year, the friends eagerly anticipate the next mission as an opportunity to unwind, have fun, and shed some weight. Despite facing challenges along the way, they persevere, visiting fifteen countries. As the story concludes, they are happily married with children, highlighting the power of love and togetherness.
I adore this book due to its well-crafted characters, thought-provoking themes, and seamless incorporation of past and present. The author skillfully balances these elements. One particular phrase that captivated me was "Ego mixed with adrenaline will drive men to do crazy things," which resonated strongly. Every character in the book was exceptional, but Mr Takeda stood out to me with his intriguing behaviour. His belief that openly expressing love to everyone around you, including parents, spouse, and children, is the key to a happy life was truly epic.
I find no reason to dislike this book, as it takes readers on a rollercoaster of both hilarious and terrifying moments during the adventure of the Man Mission. The camaraderie between the friends shines through as they constantly support and watch over each other. The author effectively portrays the shared challenges that men commonly face, allowing readers to relate and empathize.
I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars due to the author's exceptional creativity in highlighting the significance of family and friendship. The book demonstrates meticulous editing, devoid of errors, with well-structured sentences and phrases throughout. I highly recommend this book to all individuals who hold family and friendship in high regard.
