“Exploring Wine Regions - Bordeaux" is a comprehensive guide to the different types of wine produced in the Bordeaux region of France. The book begins with a brief history of the region and an explanation of how the book is organized. Then the author shares about the city of Bordeaux, including recommendations for important landmarks, museums, accommodations, and restaurants. After the focus on the city of Bordeaux, the author takes the reader on a journey through chateaux, restaurants, and lodging highlights within the Bordeaux region. He explains about different types of soil and climates or “terroirs”, and the corresponding varieties of grapes that thrive in these terroirs. For each chateau throughout the book the author shares what varieties of grapes they grow and what types of tours and tasting experiences are available there. He also shares information about dining and lodging options within each region. While the book is thorough, it can feel repetitive at times, with the same concepts or French words explained in multiple sections. There were also many grammar or editing errors throughout the book which grew distracting. I feel that this book is a helpful guide for someone who knows what type of wine they like best or what region within Bordeaux they are most interested in experiencing. For someone who is not already familiar with Bordeaux wines or regions this book provides an overload of information. The reviews of the different chateaux where the wines are made also begin to feel repetitive throughout the book. This could be a great coffee table book, due to the beautiful pictures and interesting information, but is not a great book to read cover to cover. For someone who is interested in traveling to the Bordeaux region this book could be helpful, but doing their own research online could be just as helpful. I give this book 3 out of 5 stars for the beautiful pictures and interesting information. The redundancy throughout certain sections of the book and the grammatical errors throughout are the reasons that it did not earn a higher score.

I guess the book could really use some work. I'm intrigued as to why you selected such a book though; an interest in wine-making maybe? Or Bordeaux? Either way, your review is wonderful
And your profile as well! Just felt the need to point that out

Thank you for your kind reply! I selected this book to review because I have a love of France and have not been to the Bordeaux region yet. I also enjoy wine, although I did not know much at all about different grape varieties and where they grow before reading this book. There were definitely some great suggestions for restaurants to try and places to stay amidst all of the information about wine.

The book can be very Informative. I couldn't imagine a book talking about different types of wine produced on a city. It is new and fascinating for me. I liked your review. Keep it up!

I have seen a documentary about this earlier, and although it is not of my interest, I see that it can be good material for writing, and it seems that the book here needs some modifications. Your review is honest, and aspects of the book have been thoroughly highlighted. Keep up the good work.

The book has great qualities, but the author should work on the redundancy issue and also the grammatical errors.

The book is potentially very informative. A book discussing many varieties of wine made in a city was beyond my imagination. For me, it is novel and exciting. Your review pleased me.

Great review! Your detailed description of the book's structure—from its historical insights to the deep dive into the Bordeaux region's viticulture—provides a solid preview of the content.

Interesting book! Never thought such a book would come up for a review - its for the very reasons you've mentioned. I would imagine this being an easy side-pamphlet on tours of the city or wine region, but reading it as a standalone book wih no experience going with it, can be pretty theoretical and taxing for the reader. Thanks for the objective review!!

I know quite a lot about wine, I almost bought a vineyard in Australia 10 years ago, and I have a plan to visit Bordeaux and visit the chateaus there. This book will no doubt be very helpful, if I can forgive all the errors ;)

This is what I studied at school, haha. Wine is such an interesting subject for a non-fiction! Too bad there are a lot of grammatical errors, I hope the author has been able to review them since you posted this review :)

Too bad the book was so repetitive. But, as you mentionned, it could be a great coffee table book for wine lovers and people who love France. Leafing through the book, and reading what catches one's eye may give one ideas about going to Bordeaux and trying their wines. That would be a nice trip indeed!
