Review of Like My Mother Before Me

[Following is a volunteer review of "Like My Mother Before Me" by Naley Gonzalez.]
"Like My Mother Before Me" by Naley Gonzalez is a really interesting story about a young girl who can see and talk to ghosts. The story starts with a girl named Alize Salvas, who lives happily with her dad and brother, Ezra. Unfortunately, her mom passed away when she was very young—just four years old. Alize loves playing sports a lot, and that's shown in the story.
As the story goes on, we learn that Alize has a best friend named Estelle, and they're super close. Alize also has a boyfriend named Martin. These relationships make her life even more colorful and exciting. Things take a drastic turn when, one day, she sees her mother as a ghost and a demon together. With the support of her godmother Zoraida, her mother's spirit, and other supporting characters, she embarks on a journey to find out the hidden reason behind her gift of supernatural powers and to protect her family from demons.
What I learned from the book is that the story is about Alize's special ability, her friendships, and her relationships, all mixed with a touch of mystery because of the ghosts. It's a cool book that shows how a young girl deals with her unique gift and the regular stuff in her life, like friends and family.
Coming to Naley's writing style, it was eloquent and made me eager to complete the book in one go. She skillfully showed that Alize's supernatural ability is neither a burden nor an anomaly, but rather an intrinsic part of her identity that shapes her experiences and enriches her interactions with the world around her.
I found the book professionally edited. Only the drawback was certain profanities and sensitive themes in the book, which I don't recommend to readers younger than 13 years. There were also certain Spanish words used in the book. Keeping all this apart, I rate this book five out of five stars.

Gonzalez's narrative appeals to all readers, as it navigates the intricacies of relationships, the nuances of human experiences, and the delicate dance between reality and the ethereal.
