Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures is a children's book by Catherine Anna Pepe. The narrative follows two siblings who moved from their home in Wichita to stay with their grandparents in California. The siblings include five-year-old Donny Miller, who had Down syndrome, and his sister, ten-year-old Mary Grace Miller. The children were to relocate because their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wichita, were tasked by the Church and the World Health Organization to move to Kenya in Africa as missionaries. Mary Grace didn't find it funny.

Nevertheless, their parents were determined to fulfill the task. Sooner, Mary Grace accepted the hard fate. She moved with Donny to California to be with Grandma Cathy and Papa Steve. They were both enrolled in a new school. Adapting to the new environment and new people was not palatable. Read this book to find out what happened later on.

I like many things about this book. I read it like I watched a movie. The narrative is engrossing. The storyline is very credible and interesting. I appreciate the rays of positivity that always streamed from Donny. The role of Mary Grace in the story is very pivotal. Her character gave the narrative quite a lot of life. The story is very relatable. I felt great empathy for the two siblings. The author's writing style was so beautiful. The flow was just so great.

I don't dislike anything about this book. While being keen to see if I would notice anything to dislike, I noticed I had already finished the book without finding any dislikes. I didn't even notice any errors while reading this book, which is suggestive of the fact that this book was exceptionally well-edited.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for the reasons I mentioned above. I recommend this book to any student who has just enrolled in a new school. I also recommend this book to instructors. This book is educational and very relatable.
