[Following is a volunteer review of "Niching Up" by Chris Dreyer.]
Niching Up by Chris Dreyer is an excellent read when establishing a business, especially for people who are just starting up or want to specialize in a particular area that pertains to their interests. Dreyer is an incredibly knowledgeable individual who brings much experience from his successes and failures to the table, allowing the reader to understand what will not work and why and what will work and why and how to go about this newly found entrepreneurship. The understanding behind this book came from years and years of working, having someone so well-versed in when it comes to niching, not just in his adulthood but starting when he was a teenager, indeed a remarkable man with many valuable lessons to be learnt from him. For the most part, Dreyer made it a dumbed-down version for not-so-business-like folk (like me!) to understand it; there were areas within the book that I struggled with and needed more explanation as to what Dreyer was speaking to at that part. This is the only area where I would have to dock a star. To truly benefit from this book, it would be a good idea to have some business background so that when Dreyer is using some terminology, it is clear, and there is no guesswork about what Dreyer is speaking to. Profanity occurs scarcely within the book, only a handful of times; please be mindful if that is something you want to avoid reading. Niching Up is a book I would give people who have an established business but want to focus on one area solely. This book will be a hit as it grows popular because many people are interested in starting their businesses. This novel is a quick read with powerful insights into what it takes to grow your business and make it profitable as you narrow down your clientele and why that generates more money. I recommend reading this if you are planning on starting your own business or wanting to develop your personalized niche.
