Five Stars!

Poppy is a woman with an entrepreneurial spirit and terrible taste in men. We follow her story as she attempts to find love around the globe. Through a series of bad dates, she gives a cautionary tale that will have you rolling around laughing. I loved this book. I want everyone to read it. Anyone who has ever had a date will enjoy the antics of men trying to hoodwink Poppy, and Poppy being hopeful enough to be easily hoodwinked.

Above all, this book is hilarious and relatable. I do not know anyone who has not been on a bad date. Or several. Poppy’s pithy retellings of some of the most hilariously traumatic dates of her life are downright captivating. From catfishing to bad hygiene, Poppy has seen it all. She has cataloged many of the ways that a date can go wrong, and what she has learned from them. How is this good for you? You don’t have to go through the same mistakes, you can just laugh along to hers! (side note: you will definitely still make these same mistakes).

Poppy takes the time to remind us that we are not alone, we should trust our instincts, and we should always stand up for ourselves, especially when it is hard. Her stories, paired with her lessons, make this a great story for anyone who is dealing with the dating world. I would venture to say, it is especially suited for a new adult audience. There are few curse words and virtually no spice, making this a book you can comfortably gift your daughter, with no emotional scarring.

This story is beautifully written, with very few editorial mistakes. Reading like a best friend telling me her life story, I never wanted to put this book down. I truly felt that I was sitting at the kitchen counter with Poppy as she entertained me with tales from her adventures.
