You Can Talk to Anyone by Ellen Dawson is a non-fiction book. The author has taken time to explain why people feel isolated and lonely. According to the author, human loneliness is not caused by the absence of people or being alone. She points out that being lonely is more of a science with internal and external factors in play. She has taken time to focus on the inner complexities of conscious and unconscious choices that lead to loneliness and isolation.

Each of the six chapters of the book is part of the roadmap to re-establish social connection. The author starts by explaining what feeling isolated means and what causes it. The three significant factors causing and leading to isolation are disconnection within ourselves, anxiety, and loneliness, which all feed off each other in a vicious cycle that produces isolation.

Secondly, the book explores the physical and mental health benefits we would enjoy from being with others. Since creating relationships is not easy, the author guides the readers in this chapter on how to use conversation skills and get started with proven conversation techniques. She has highlighted the importance of technology and social media platforms to connect with others.

In the next chapter, the author further highlights the importance of conversational groups and how they can help reestablish social connections. The book continues to give the reader interesting tips on how to start talking to anyone, including how to handle talking to strangers.

Finally, the author finishes by discussing friendship and the importance of creating long-lasting and healthy relationships with people. She guides the reader on how to start making friends, where to meet new friends, the challenges common to adult friendship, and how to conquer them.

The book is aesthetically written, and I didn’t find any errors in it. I am completely captivated by this book; the simplified roadmap to reestablishing social connection is fulfilling. I salute the author for shedding light on the issue of loneliness and isolation.

I commend the editor too because the book is exceptionally edited. In my opinion, this book deserves 4 stars out of 5. .

I recommend this book to anyone struggling with loneliness and isolation.
