[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
Author Matthew Tysz did a wonderful job introducing us to some important characters for the We Are Voulhire Series. This first book focuses on setting the scene for each character through Kings, Lords, Mages, and Commoners. This is a tale of magic set in the promising land of Voulhire or is it all that it is cracked up to be? While Voulhire may seem like the dream lands, there is trouble transpiring throughout the kingdom. Meanwhile, Galen Bray has escaped his previous home, Land of the Princes, to journey to Voulhire and inherit his great uncles forge though he knows nothing of how to continue his great uncles work. I believe Galen will be the character that plays a crucial role in the series so pay close attention to his ventures!
The author does bounce between several characters and their individual stories so at times I would have to recall what was going on with each character, but it is overall a well written and riveting book. I feel that the multifaceted storylines is what intrigues the reader to continue so they can get to the next character! It definitely created a means to keep the reader from being able to put the book down.
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies does a wonderful job at introducing the reader to the characters and regions that will be set for the books to come. I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5. As someone that is an avid reader of this genre, Matthew did a great job with his editing, explanations and descriptions of each individual storyline. The immersive saga does well to keep the reader engaged and provides a compelling visual for the lands that are being explored. I highly recommend this book and intend to continue reading the series.
