Review of The Last Enemy
“The Last Enemy” by Dan E. Hendrickson is a fictional novel whose characters are imaginative. This book is about powerful cartel leaders in Mexico. Maxmillian Manerez is the most powerful cartel leader in Mexico and Central America. Jacob, his wife, and his mother were traveling when Maxmillian men kidnapped them and announced their deaths to the whole world while he locked them in the Maxmillian prison. Mary, who was Jacob's wife, was pregnant at the time. After 3 years, she had a baby, and she named him after her and Jacob’s father, Roberto James Edward. Jacob did not believe he was a friend to the son of his abductors, Jonathan. Jonathan then moves them out of the prison into a cottage in the compound and also updates Jacob and Mary about their family’s well-being at home.
Maxmillian fears Jacob after he beats up Frank, a large Latino who was a phediohile. Frank was not someone who could be easily beaten, but Jacob took him down so easily. Read this book to find out what is going to happen when Danielle finds out that her parents and grandmother are alive.
I enjoyed the storyline; there was no dull moment. Each of the 12 chapters of the book flows together without any breaks in the novella. Jacob was surrounded by lovely people. Also, Jonathan and Marnia’s love story was fascinating. The title of the book is surely captivating. The characters portrayed their parts really well. I loved how Barbara apologized to Danielle and the flow of emotion in the book. The approval of little Robert for Chris and Danielle was awesome. This book is lovely, and I had a good time reading it.
The things I dislike about the book are minimal. So many things are going on at the same time, which could make it difficult for the readers to understand the book.
The book was flawlessly edited. The book is voluminous and becomes a little too much to take in at once, and I give it a rating of 4 out of 5 because of this dislike. I recommend this book to leaders, grammarians, and lovers of fiction.
