Review of Inner Trek
Mohan Ranga Rao penned the gripping novel Inner Trek, exploring themes of powerlessness, betrayal, courage, fear, self-confidence, religion, and love. The narrative revolves around a transformative journey towards the divine. Mohan faced intimidation from a land mafia leader, Jalli Jagdish, and betrayal from his lawyer, Mr. Hedge. Threatened to surrender his land at an unfairly low price, he discovered his security supervisor, Nanyi, was also complicit.
Overwhelmed by powerlessness, Mohan turned to his wife, Mamatha, who led him to their sacred prayer room. Initially, his religious acts were mere appeasement, but Mamatha suggested an organized pilgrimage to ward off evil, which initially disinterested him. However, as Mohan delved into research on the pilgrimage, his curiosity blossomed. He embarked on a high-altitude trek, facing extreme cold and rugged terrain at 18,000 feet. This journey introduced him to captivating encounters that transformed his perspective on religion, causing him to shed his ego and embrace a higher intelligence. It ignited an irresistible desire to experience the divine.
This novel stands out as one of the most captivating I've ever experienced. I admire the way Mohan Ranga Rao employs a first-person narrative, enhancing the reader's connection to the story. The inclusion of images, an organized itinerary, and maps for location details greatly aid in forming mental imagery. The initial chapters of the book are particularly enthralling and brimming with suspense. I found Mohan's problem-solving skills intriguing. Mamatha emerges as an enthusiastic character who confronts challenges without complaint, firmly believing in the power of prayer to overcome any obstacle.
The profound lesson within this story, emphasizing the importance of personally seeking a connection with God and the need for active spiritual growth and direct experiences rather than relying solely on others' beliefs or theories, is precisely why I have no dislike for this book. My enthusiastic recommendation extends to adventure enthusiasts, business proprietors, and real estate professionals alike. I would also recommend it to anyone who's lingered too long in their comfort zone and yearned for a voyage into uncharted waters.
I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because it is brilliantly written, and I relished every moment spent engrossed in its pages; not a second felt wasted. Its appeal transcends age boundaries, making it suitable for readers of all generations. The book is impeccably edited and free of errors, and the portrayal of events, time, and location is executed with excellence.
