The book Purpose, by Gina Bianchini is a non-fiction book about building healthy communities through social media/networking. It consists of approximately 200 pages and is considered a short read for most. In her writing, Gina Bianchini’s passion for building purposeful communities of the future is evident throughout the novel. She shares how these communities involve safe, social media, and teaching others to find their purpose in an ever-changing tech world of today and the future.
Initially, Bianchini talks about her childhood, her ambition for finding purpose, and building useful communities. I sense that the book does what it claims: gives the reader step by step guidance to finding their purpose and building engaging future social networking communities with purpose. Throughout the book, Gina continually refers to herself and how she found and utilized her purpose. Reading this book may help you connect with others by evaluating your role to yourself, others and your community. She even shares how you can relate to family and friends while finding your purpose and building your community. It is strongly written, as well as thought provoking in that, Gina encourages the reader to think about finding their purpose as well as identify with their own community. Examples of real members of a platform and their journeys are shared and explained. The author’s passion for helping others meet and build meaningful relationships through social media and real life can be seen in the tone of the book. While I am not a person likely to build a community through social media, I did accept some valuable ideas about building purpose in my own life. The book appeared in some ways to be more business oriented. Perhaps this would be an appealing book for a college class, where discussions and open planning may be beneficial. If you are interested in being a catalyst in building social media/networking communities, then this book is definitely a good read for you.
Editing in this book was well done, as I found no typos or grammar that would affect the message shared by the author. I rated this book four stars because I felt like it was a bit repetitive.
