When Business is Love is a non-fiction novel by Jan Rydes. The novel tells the story of a local family business in Sweden, which was founded by Pehr Adolf. Pehr Adolf started the company by making saddles but later shifted his focus to making beds and mattresses. After many years of challenges and transformations, the company has become the world's best producer of beds and mattresses under the leadership of Jan Ryde. The author tells of his love for his company, his people, and his clients by creating a better world through better sleep. The Hasten beds are designed and made by love. The author tells us that a company should be run on pure and unconditional love instead of judging, blaming, and comparing. He, therefore, describes Hasten as a company that runs its business on the concepts of mastery, quality, and, above all, love. The author mentions that stress is destructive. Stress has the potential to badly compromise the quality of whatever product or service an organization provides.

I loved the author's smooth flow of events from the beginning of the novel to the end. The author tells us the genesis of the Hasten company to the current state. He further describes the different challenges that the company has undergone, what he calls the dark age, and how he managed to overcome them. Most importantly, I loved how the author passionately describes the concept of love and how any business needs to integrate love into its company to make it a success. I learned that one has to love oneself before one can give of oneself to others. The novel uses simple language, which makes the reader want to pick up the book at any time. The author engages the reader throughout the book by using questions to make them get involved in what is discussed. The questions also heighten the reader's interest and make them reflect on what should be done. The author uses relevant business examples to illustrate the concept of love in making any business successful.

The book was well-structured and professionally edited. I did not encounter any typographical errors while reading. There is nothing I disliked about the book.

I would give the book a 5 out of 5 stars because I did not find any typographical errors. The novel is very educative and fun to read.

I will recommend the book to young adults and adults who love to read non-fiction novels with the themes of love, family, divorce, and business.

I read this novel, and my highlight was Chapter Two, which delves into Jan Ryde's life story. He candidly shares his childhood experiences, the adversities he faced, and the profound shift in his mindset that enabled him to overcome the challenges.
