Reconfigurement: Reconfiguring Your Life At Any Stage and Planning Ahead by E. Alan Fleischauer is a fantastic book for anyone looking to adequately plan towards retirement and begin making wise and informed career decisions.

The book presents itself as a form of self-help guide focused on creating and maintaining financial security for your future self. Fleischauer addresses the vital importance of reconfiguring the present in preparation for a future wherein one may comfortably live and retire.

Fleischauer writes this book with considerable experience under his belt. He offers the reader guidance in tackling an expansive range of financial areas of life, such as pensions, social security, careful budgeting, life insurance, and many (mostly American-centric) topics that the reader should consider when planning their future.

Written in an easily digestible way, Fleischauer encourages the reader to utilise the aforementioned tools (pension, life insurance, budgeting) to ensure they give themselves their best chance at not only affording, but enjoying, retirement.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. It was enjoyable and insightful to read. It was excellently edited and structured. This book provides a lot of practical advice that can be immediately factored into one’s plans and financial decision-making going forward. I believe this book would be incredibly helpful for anyone needing a guide to money management and financial planning, and those who are wanting to understand and create for themselves a retirement plan.

I didn’t find anything I disliked about this book. Though, I should note that this book is based entirely on and within the American financial and social systems. Studies and statistics of such American systems are the main reference points upon which this guide is built. Having said that, I believe this book provides very helpful advice and guidance on financial planning that can be adapted and utilised by non-Americans, nonetheless.
