The Vilcabamba Prophecy written by Robert Rapoza is a fictional thriller novel that follows an archaeologist named Nick Randall on an adventure that mixes both history and future in a way that leads the characters and the readers on a wave of suspense. With the help of his team, members of an undiscovered jungle tribe, and his daughter, Dr. Randall battles violent mercenaries lead by a power hungry energy conglomerate to locate a hidden city in the hopes of saving the world as we know it.

I enjoyed the character development and I soon grew attached to the background of each character. This made me more interested in what was to come for each person. The author did a great job of establishing interpersonal relationships between the characters. These relationships included a father daughter relationship damaged by the past, a mentor and his students who have become family, many wealthy business owners trying to work together and even the psychotic mercenaries and those who they are hunting. This book had characters which a reader will both love and hate-- sometimes at the same time--which is a way the author was able to keep the reader involved as well. Waiting to see if each character is who they appear to be also keeps a reader turning the next page.

The author also did a great job of describing the historical background of the hidden city and the ties to the jungle tribes. The information provided seemed very realistic and the author connected the theories the characters had to the archeological items that were being sought. This made the entire story seem plausible which was another reason it was a page turner. It almost felt as though I was following along a team of researchers on their next big discovery.

The book was extremely entertaining. All of the connecting character storylines kept me eager to see what was coming next and the twists and turns were unexpected and exciting. I wanted to know more about how the theories would be explained and tied together and if there were any other surprise elements that would come up on the next page. I understood both the driving forces behind the main character Nick and his main nemesis Mr. Dumond. The book also had an underlying theme of the future and the past coming together which could either be used to save humanity or destroy it. These ideas have crossed many people’s minds and because there is such an interest in this ideology both in the educational field and in the general population, the book creatively answers some of the what ifs that are discussed between many.

This was a great read and I give it 4 out of 4 stars. I was impressed with the ideas that were intertwined in this book and I was stealing time to keep reading. It is definitely a thrilling page turner and not only would I recommend it to others I also am excited about what else I can read from this author. Great Job
