Nice book, but I must say something religious in subject is always a risky business. However, reader is left with too many questions to wonder about. Its first part is very obvious because God is caring, powerful, loving etc. The second part investigates into beginning of individuals doing wrong/evil things and derelict the affiliation with God. Author also stretches biblical / psychological references to allow the readers to question their own opinions and reach their own assumptions i.e. why the God permits evil and suffering. Its second part also consistently emphasizes the crucial role of faith, with the author asserting that faith is an essential prerequisite for love. However, it is imperative that an individual's faith is directed towards the correct ends in order for love to be realized. Some individuals choose to center their faith on others, prioritizing loving relationships above all else. Conversely, there are those who mistakenly place their ultimate faith in the pursuit of self-centered objectives such as wealth or social status, believing that these will bring them satisfaction and happiness. According to the author, a person's orientation towards faith is pivotal in understanding the concept of evil. Evil is defined as the undermining of love through the pursuit of selfish objectives driven by faith. When individuals anchor their lives in this form of faith, they deprive themselves of love, as love can only flourish when people have faith in one another and engage in selfless behavior towards each other. If we consider that humans are designed as relational beings meant to experience love with God and others, it becomes clear that individuals can only fulfill the true purpose of their lives by placing ultimate faith in God, rather than in the pursuit of self-centered objectives. Overall, this book has very serious subject to think about.
