Finding one's purpose seems to be all the rage these days, and if I'm honest, it has begun to seem a bit dull. In her book, "Purpose," the author, Gina Bianchini, delves deeper into this concept of 'Purpose' that has been obsessively floating around over the last decade. She defines Purpose as a daily practice, something one does regularly to bring it into existence. She offers us a blueprint on how to flesh out our Purpose, referred to as the Purpose 30. After trying it for a few days, I found it interesting and exciting, as it highlights key areas in our lives. I believe that dedicating 30 days to this process could spark something magical.
Bianchini is of the opinion that we can create more impact with our Purpose through a community. She shares a first-hand experience where the power of community helped her personally in troubled times, and she believes we can scale it with the use of modern technology. Her key distinction lies in differentiating a community from an audience; She argues that a community is more personalized, close-knit, and trusting, and has more power than building an audience through social media. She provides her own example and others who have made it a success.
For someone familiar with how marketing funnels work, Biachini's book may seem like a funnel to introduce us to the digital world of Mighty, which she has created to make a digital impact through the power of community. So, I'm a bit sceptical with this funnel-like aspect. However, having practised the Purpose 30 for a few days and believing in the power of community and technology as tools for scaling and effecting change, I find merit in her approach.
Would I recommend reading the book? Yes, if you'd like to flesh out your purpose and have a better understanding of it. If you are feeling jaded about community and want to reignite your belief in the power of community, this is a must-read. And if you are not convinced that technology can be leveraged effectively, this is a perfect introduction. As someone who has been exploring this space for three years, I gained a different perspective, which was interesting and slightly different but not entirely unique. Bianchini emphasizes the power of community and how it differs from an audience, and her reminder came in handy for me. We all know that technology can be used to benefit and scale, and according to her, Mighty seems to be a platform where we can build communities and cultures, making it an exciting proposition.
