Homecoming: A Five Worlds Series Novel by Jude Austin is a superb sequel to Project Tau: A Five Worlds Series Novel. Kata promised Tau safety or death when they escaped GenTech. Now he must figure out who is least dangerous. Kata was recruited by the crime syndicate, the Diamonds, before reaching his homeworld, Trandellia. Upon reaching Trandellia, Kata and Tau are ambushed by the government. Sent to a lawless world on a fool's errand, Kata and Tau become separated. Can Captain Morgan, a doctor on the planet Atthiras, be trusted? He may be Kata's best hope of survival. Is Tau’s new friend Kurai trustworthy? Both Alan and Kata are leary. What will the legal ramifications be, related to Tau and Kata’s escape from GenTech? Can anyone help them? Can anyone be trusted? Can Alan Morgan’s legal scheme help them? It’s the only chance they have.

This sequel begins exactly where Project Tau: A Five Worlds Series Novel ends. I particularly enjoyed delving into Kalin's pre-GenTech psychological trauma. Tau's adjustment to human relationships, including that with absent Kalin, is fascinating. Tau’s burgeoning intellect is an interesting development. Kata is forced to renew his strained relationship with his father, and his earlier trauma is explored. I found this novel well-edited and error-free.

I found nothing negative about this book. Sensitive readers may object to the theme of the series. The language is stronger, and the tone is more adult than Project Tau: A Five Worlds Series Novel by Jude Austin. Homecoming is not a stand-alone novel.

I rate Homecoming: A Five Worlds Series Novel by Jude Austin five out of five stars. I recommend this book to those who enjoyed Project Tau: A Five Worlds Series Novel. Readers of science and military fiction will enjoy this series, as will readers with an interest in psychology or philosophy. Those who enjoy drama will appreciate the changing relationship dynamics. Highly recommended to all empathetic, thinking mammals who enjoy stories.
