Review of Nimue

"NIMUE: Freeing Merlin" by Ayn Cates Sullivan weaves a tale that spans across time and realms, immersing readers in a rich and captivating narrative. Divided into three acts, the story introduces us to the modern-day character of Nina, a 17-year-old girl about to embark on a life-altering journey. Moving to Britain with her mother, Nina is an ordinary teenager, unaware of the extraordinary destiny that awaits her.
The story begins with Nina's recurring dream, one that features a mysterious lady draped in a shimmering green dress with mesmerizing pale-violet eyes. This woman introduces herself as Nina's best friend and her worst enemy. She calls Nina a "mage" and assigns her a monumental task: to free Merlin, a name that holds an ancient and powerful resonance.
As Nina grapples with the mystique of her dreams and the unfolding events, readers are drawn into a world where the Arthurian legend comes alive. However, I'm left wanting to know what happened to Evienne and Myrdinn in the end. I wish this book had a second part.
