[Following is a volunteer review of "Different Family Structures" by Mildred Stallworth.]
Each one of us has our own definition of family. We are raised with the concept of family that runs through the blood; wherein, it consists of a father, mother, and child/children. But now, we are all aware that family is more than that. Others might consider their friends a family, and some might consider their pets a family. But what family really is, and how does it affect the growth and development of a child?
The book titled Different Family Structures by Mildred Stallworth defines family in an easy yet convincing way. Mildred shares in her book the different family structures and how we form them consciously or unconsciously. She also shares in her book some tips, recommendations, and advice on how to keep the people we consider as a family compact that stays together. Furthermore, she also shares how powerful the impact of the family is to the children of future generations. She mentioned that a family shares a big proportion of what a child will be in the future and how a child will grow and develop.
The first thing that I liked about this book is how handy it is. It only consists of ten short chapters. However, despite its small number of pages, the author is still able to give thought-provoking insights to the readers on how a family becomes a major contributor to our society. Additionally, since the book is not that long, readers won't find it boring or the ideas are repetitive or feel overwhelmed by the concepts. Instead, readers will have enough time to digest each idea, tips, and advice the author shared.
Another factor that I liked about the book is the inserted quotes from different personalities. What I liked about this part is how properly cited the quotes are. This shows how professional the author is. Instead of just putting their ideas, she put their names together with the quotes.
I didn't find any negative factors that affected the quality of the book. I just found a couple of minor errors while reading the book. However, these errors are very minimal so the book remains well-edited. Because of the factors mentioned above, I rate this book a complete rating of five out of five stars.
This book is highly recommended to newly-wed couples who are looking for a book that would help them on how to build a strong family. This book could still be read even by readers who are looking for a book that would make their family stronger.
