[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
The story follows the journey of a mysterious newcomer named Galen. His journey is about to change after living in a world of war, poverty, and loneliness after uncovering he has an uncle who is a blacksmith in Voulhire, and the escape from the land of Princes begins. In other realms, we witness the Riva Rohavi, a band of revolutionaries murdering everyone who helps the land they despise thrive, and powerful magicians in human history defended by a fleet of ships waiting for something big. With so much political imbalance in Voulhire, the king requires help from Mianoran knights, but corruption and pedanticism generate a conflict of values.
The book "We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies" deserves the highest praise for several reasons. The book's storyline is captivating and keeps the reader hooked from start to finish. It combines elements of fantasy and adventure that are well executed; in addition, it engages the reader, providing an image of what is happening. The characters in the book are well-developed and multi-dimensional. They have depth and evolve throughout the story, making them relatable and intriguing.
I would give the book a five out of five stars because it features a strong plot, well-rounded characters, a richly imagined setting, and a distinctive writing style at its center. The author's world-building skills are exceptional. The setting of Voulhire is well illustrated, and readers can immerse themselves in this fantastical world with a perfect balance of description, dialogue, and action. It's easy to get lost in the author's prose. The book also explores deep emotions, relationships, and moral dilemmas. It is a must-read for anyone who enjoys immersive fantasy and adventure novels.
