For the Love of Suzanne” by Kristi Hudecek-Ashwill is a time-travelling romance novel. Suzanne is a regular woman who is in an abusive relationship. Her life changes when she goes back in time and meets Cody Black Fox. It could have been a regular predictable story about time travelling romance but is so much more. It takes you back to the native American history and the wrong doings to the people of that time. The details given by the author feel so real that you are transported to that time when Chiricahua Apache, a clan in the 19th century, was struggling to live freely on their own lands. Between constant tension among black and white men, Suzanne, a white woman who is pregnant with her husband’s child, is travelling the country with a black man who is also a half breed. Will the hardships of that time, with excessive heat and abusive men become too much for Suzanne and her child?

The story of Suzanne is one that will keep you captured till the end. Will she be able to go back to her time before the child is delivered? Will the child survive the hardships and rough life? Will the man she loves be with her in another world? She does not know how she travelled back in time, then how will she go back and take Cody with her? Will he go?

The author has given some really great twists to the time travelling romance. The story line and characters are written beautifully. The characters of Suzanne and Cody are very interestingly drawn. They both are similar in so many ways, yet so different. The other characters are pretty basic and simple.

The drama around the story is also good. It sometimes felt the author has tried to stretch the plot a little. There are a few scenes where the book goes into overdrive and drops all sense and reasoning. Being a time travelling novel it is understood to have some not so real twists but dropping all logic and reason, is a bit of a stretch.

Still the book was captivating and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The story flows freely from the start to the end. Overall, the experience was great. So, I give ‘For the Love of Suzanne’, a 3 out of 4 Stars. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance and does not mind a bit of out of the world experience.
