[Following is a volunteer review of "Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book" by Kalliope Barlis.]
How would you describe your golfing skills? Would you like to improve them without having to pay thousands of dollars for a coach? Do you think you could become a professional player if you wanted? Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book by Kalliope Barlis is a perfect guide to improving your game and gives you the basics to improve your game.
The book is divided into three parts that are intended to give you guidelines to improve your game. The first part is about your brain and how you need to think in order to excel at golf. This is achieved by using a technique called Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). The second and third parts are about taking action by practicing and playing golf. The author recommends that this book be read in a quiet and calm spot, in one reading, and constantly reread when playing or practicing. This book must become part of the golfing gear if the player expects to achieve their goals.
I loved the simple language Kalliope Barlis uses when writing; she explained that she was trying to keep technical language and labels out of this book so the reader could actually comprehend and benefit from it. I am not a professional golf player, have never taken classes, and do not know much of the technical language, but I do enjoy playing and would like to improve how I do it. Although the techniques and advice shared by Barlis are focused on golf, the book includes graphics, questions, and examples that can be applied to anything since the purpose of this book is not only to play golf better but also to achieve every goal that was set while doing it. What I liked most about this book is that everything Kalliope Barlis is sharing has already been tried and worked for her.
Overall, I rate Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The book has been professionally edited, but I did find a couple of errors, mostly attributed to typos that do not affect the reading or advice given. There is nothing negative I can say about this book; it is simple, interesting, and easy to read (I was able to follow the advice and read it in less than two hours on a quiet morning).
I recommend this book to people who enjoy playing golf, are trying to improve their skills, or have tried playing but failed (we all have been there). Following the author’s advice, I also recommend it to business people, students, or people struggling to achieve their goals.
